I have just repaired my 18 month old WD420P. It had indicated the F03 fault and I had to replace the Control Board.

About 11 months after purchase the machine it gave out three loud pops and a little smoke appeared from the top ( think it was on a wash cycle)–fuse had also blown in plug. Having trained in electronics it sounded like capacitors exploding?

I had the Hotpoint man round, as it was still just under warranty, but he could not find any problems and I don’t think he actually believed me!

My problem is could there be a faulty component that will cause short life expectancy of the control board?

    Has anyone experienced this problem?

I’m sorry – you are new here. Put ‘hotpoint AND electronics’ or ‘indesit AND electronics’ into Search for this forum only for an idea of the scale of this problem. Plenty of results.

hi, as its a WD machine you may find some water has come out through the breather hole on the dryer assy & dripped down onto the module, usually caused by a pump blockage, but also probably blown the module, did you see any damage when changing the old module?

Yes had a good look through this forum before posting– that’s how I found the place to purchase the control board.
Pity I didn’t look through before I purchased this machine!
Have had a few hotpoints in the past mainly second hand and not too many problems and I always could repair them 😀

The faulty control board had no visual defects– no burnt or broken tracks or physically damaged components.

    Many thanks for your opinions.
