ParticipantCustomer has a Bosch D/W SGS43E08GB (S9G1B)
Wash pump was making a loud noise. Managed to remove it (bayonet fitting, not much room to turn) and found a cherry stone!
But cannot get the motor refitted, due to space restriction. Unless there is some trick I don’t know about, it looks like a strip-down (which I have managed to avoid over many years!). I guess this involves upending the machine and detaching the whole chassis.
If anyone has a breakdown/manual/PDF on the procedure for removing the white base chassis unit (needed also for heater and stat replacement I think) I would be very grateful. Also, does one have to drain the salt res or is it watertight upside-down??
Much thanks
Myfil (Mike)

How on earth have you managed to dislodge the motor Mike just by twisting the pump out?
Anyway be that as it may, to fully access the motor as well as all the other components in the base, use the following procedure…..
Remove outer door panel, top and side panels. Remove salt cap and unscrew the locking collar. Remove filters to access and remove 4 torx screws holding tub, remove screws and loosen top spray from sump. Drain off excess water in sump and salt container to prevent spillages.
Disconnect water matrix on L/H/side away from the tub. Unhook door cord nylon bushes off both door hinges, then with a narrow bladed screwdriver placed under the small nylon latches of the door hinge bearing, gently ease the door off the nylon bearing and lay door on the ground.
Next, remove the 2 torx screws that hold the tub to the plastic base at the back and the 2 torz screws holding the tub on the front hinge brackets. Then carefully lift the tub off the base and clear. The sump and heater box can now be fully accessed. The heater box is held in place with 2 torz screws under the sump and unhooking the motor mount and the drain hose will give improved access.
On re-assembly be sure to remember to use a jubilee clip to secure the rubber sleeve to the motor! Carefully inspect the tub for any damage before refitting and double check the the salt container rubber gasket is in place and clean before lowering the tub back in place. I find it also helps to lightly smear the black sump gasket with soap solution to ensure the tub easily relocates onto it squarely.
Reassembly is straight forward enough but do take care to relocate the bottom door seal onto the tub lip before fitting the outer door panel!
Enjoy! 🙂

This is why I no longer touch dishwashers under about 10 years old, unless it’s something easy to get at like a soap dispenser.

Get away with ya! 😛
They are a piece of pee to sort…the info is there before you anyway, step by step stuff…not a problem and what’s more…a nice little earner my friend 😉
Give it a go, tell me I’m wrong…. 8)

Wow, thanks Martin, that was fast!
Can’t wait to get down to it. Piece of pee, eh??
Still you are right, I am doing more and more Bosch stuff, and it is a good earner. (It’s a shame BSH have just f****d up a very good web site for getting spares and diagrams….)

We’re all gonna have to be more flexible in what we take on phidom. Gone are the days when we could all wander about popping in hotpoint carbs, door boots & the like..No, our future is integrated dishwashers, 😯 : fan ovens, and all the other stuff the punter regards as a hassle to replace, nothing stays the same, its getting a tough game in which to make a buck compared to the old days though 😥

I always do these with the machine on it’s back. Remove lid, side panels front lower trim, rear plastic to stainless screws, pop the springs, front plastic to main struts screws, ease to matrix clip, unhook the wash motor rubbers (if it has the elastic band types) then ease the base down.
Yes I need a towel or 2 to absorb but never had any spillage inside the appliance.March 28, 2008 at 6:57 pm #247222Penguin45

I had several ways of doing these. My favourite was to turn the machine upside down and take the base off. Martin’s method is the quickest, easiest, cleanest and safest way to do it. Once you’ve done a couple, it’s an hour to strip and re-assemble.

I have a problem with one of these at the moment. It seems to have a very small and slow leak that is not at all obvious when looking at the usual areas. It takes about 3 weeks to fill the base enough to trip the float switch. I think it would be difficult to strip the machine down and trace such a small leak with no water circulating. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Slow leaks eh? :rolls: Incontinent Bosch Syndrome it’s called! (Or IBS for short)8)
The easiest check is the water inlet/pressure switch matrix. If the transfer pipe to the tub is restricted at all, chances are it will spill a drip or two over the top of the pressure chamber and into the base. Failing that then it will involve strip down for a closer look.
Usual suspects are: –
Circulating pump shaft seal.
Circulating pump ‘O’ ring.
Water Point mechanism (if fitted on model)
Salt container gasket.
Corrosion holes in S/Steel tank (usually in the corner-edges of the fine filter recess)
Perished or dislodged bottom door seal.
Bottom Spray Arm not fully clipped together (plastic latches)Also: A point to consider is the vent hose on the r’hand side. If the customer/users are in the regular habit of switching the machine off mid-cycle to open the door and take stuff in or out, then close the door and restart the programme? Then water shoots up the pipe and onto the base :rolls:
HTH? 😀

Thanks Martin! This machine is just 2 years old and is as clean as a whistle. No evidence of water around pressure chamber etc. Did notice lots of water droplets in breather tube, but put this down to condensation.
Told cus if it happens again soon, ill take it away and strip it down. Ill report back with my findings if and when this happens.Subs

Have had a clean water leak from the inlet valve stalk that the solenoid sits on not screwed in tight into body. 1 drip every few mins. longnose pliers sorted it. 3 wks to antiflood to reappear. HTH.

WHOA there tiger.
There is absolutely no need to completely strip the tank to remove or refit the circ pump.
Once door skin, bottom steel plate and side panels are off simply remove the front and rear securing screws holding the tank to the base, and the hinge cord on the RHS.
Raise RHS away from base insert a screwdriver (or similar wedge) under leg holding hinge plate and on top of plastic base. Bobs yer uncle, loads of room job done in thirty mins or so 😉

LOL well done superfix!! I think they must like to make a very easy job into somthing more difficult. You can change a wash pump on a freestending dishwasher in less than 25mins, start to finish. Why mess around taking the base off?

It seems the newer ones have a removable bottom cover now. I have come across 2 of the newer machines where the seal where the motor fits into the housing fail. The machines were nearly new too.
