    hi guys

have a beko LA120 fridge purchased 14 months ago, low and behold its not working!!.
the plug/fuse is fine cos the light is on, but fridge is warm- had to throw contents out,and its making a ‘gushing sound’ . have rang beko but because it’s out of guarantee by 8 weeks, have to pay for engineer call-out which frankly annoys me due to the age of fridge, been told that it might need to re-gassed?

    any advice greatly appreciated!
    many thanks

theres more of a chance of the compressor being duff to be honest
8 week out of warranty or not, theyll have to do something for you

thanks for your reply, (trying not to sound dopey!) but do you mean cos compressor is major part it should last lot longer than it have or only an ‘beko engineer’ can change part?

    cheers again

    exactly that

it is classed as a major component, so really they should be fitting you a new one

they arent within their rights to fob you off on this one… you do have some rights

    Re: beko LA120- problem

    hi again

on advice from consumer direct, i wrote to the store i purchased fridge from, explaining breakdown and asking under sales of goods act 1979 to either repair or replace fridge. had a letter from them asking for a report of the fault and estimate cost of the repair to be sent to their customer service centre.
compressor price around £100.00, plus cost of fitting.

not my area- but believe to change a compressor need a corgi card?

    Hi

I was looking at this modal only today to buy for a flat.

This may sound daft but take this issue to your local county court; big companies don’t expect customers to use the law, which is why they do nothing to help. Under the sales of goods act you can state that you expect white goods to last at least 24 months otherwise the item is not of merchantable quality.

You will have to pay a fee of £30 & get help if you need it.

*Make sure you include all costs you have incurred (fees, travel)
*The cost to you of putting the problem right
*Cost of your time (don’t be greedy)

They are there to help you (that is how they make there money)

Not many people know how easy civil action is, they just think the guarantee is all they have.

You can expect quality at a cheap price I PROMISE YOU

    Take care Yorkie
