I have just bought an Indesit WDL126 washer dryer. the washing bit is fine but when it dries there is a horrible rubbery/musty smell that stays on the clothes. I have tried using expensive softner during washing and quality tumble dryer sheets.

The only way i can lessen the smell is to stop the drying part way through and air the clothes (which really defeats the object of a dryer). Is there anything i can do, i am limited for space that’s why i got a washer dryer.

    TIA

    Re: smelly washer dryer

When you say ‘just bought’ was this a new purchase or second hand.

It would be unusual for a new machine to cause this.

Smelly machines are usually caused by prolonged use of liquids or non bleach containing detergents at low temperatures.

PS. You should not use any kind of tumble dryer sheet in a washer dryer.

it was about 2 months old when we got it, hardly been used.
I’ll give normal powder a go and see what happens.

    Thanks 🙂

a piece of dust fallen on the dry element, can only have happened this quick because of heavy usage.
