ParticipantJust an interest, has anyone else recieved a file from masterpart called “accounts to email.xls”? it has downloaded itself onto my computer on the 11 March.
If anyone has please let me know as I wan’t to know how widespread it is.At this time I cannot say what the file contains but it is VERY alarming. 😯
PLEASE CHECK your system by doing a search

No sign of it here, how do you know it came from Masterpart?
Its an EXCEL file extension
It can however be used to send a virus.

OK enough time has elapsed and there does not seem to be a widespread problem.
Just to let everyone know what it was all about.
The file I received was rather confidential and should not have been distributed; it contained a listing of M/P’s customer base including email addresses and worse still Passwords! And yes I do recognise one or two names of UKWG’s users amongst them. 😯
I have contacted MP over this lack of control over data protection and they were to get back to me, to date no one has. 😕
Obviously they do not consider it of great importance 🙁 , because of this I have decided to let members of UKWG know. If you have an account with MP then certainly let them know of your displeasure and if I may suggest, CHANGE your password

There does seem to be a bit of a ‘lax’ attitude at M’part regarding security. The other day I was trying to pay a bill by card over the phone. No’one was in accounts on two occasions but they would ‘helpfully’ have left my card number and details on the acounts office desk so they could sort it on their return 😯 .
I’ve had problems in the past when I had a business partner, we used his card to settle an outstanding bill, two years later they were about to use the ‘card number they had on file’ to settle another bill….that would have taken some explaining to a now Ex partner.

Not long ago I had an email from MP telling me of a change of password for my account, now I know why. Nice of them to inform me of their cockup :rolls:
