ParticipantWell, we did order it, and have managed to hang on, due largely to the generosity of my darling neighbour and friends allowing us to wash the occasional load of undies and stuff… And the vast pile of ancient towels my mum passed on from my grandma’s legacy, that I was going to donate to Shelter but never got round to! When you have a teenaged boy in the house and swim a couple of times a week, you get through a LOT of towels! Towels that have been covered in mud, hair dye (mine!), or dragged on a changing room floor need to be boiled.
BUT they have hauled out a large number of the first batch for QA testing, and I have to wait another two weeks… Bah! I could destruct test one for them! I have 4-5 loads of towels awaiting a boil wash, 2 loads of handwash/woollens at the other end of the scale, a light load of shirts and stuff, a double load of socks and two further dark loads… Why is it that when there is no readily available washer, the teenage lad manages to get through three pairs of school trousers in a week! And why do they splatter their new shirts with ink?
By the time I get this beast, I shall have enough washing piled up to offer a full assessment of the capabilities of the machine!
Luckily the last batch of FTL sewing projects didn’t require me to wash the fabric first!

KeymasterHi Kate,
I’m not ignoring this, I’m currently working on getting you an answer on the date.
Yes the machines have been subject to a much more rigorous set of quality checks which has caused an unexpected delay as has another issue with shipping.
We are working on solving that now as quickly as we possibly can and hope to have some answers today.
All I can do is apologise and thank you for being patient with us.
Regards
K.

(Kate struggles to top of laundry mountain)
It’s OK – I was just having a Moment there! Having spent last week in school as a sewing machine and brat wrangler, nerves are a leeetle frayed! 😛
I liked the specs and the philosophy so much that I’m prepared to wait, but actually KNOWING a release date would be grand. Since I last posted I’ve had to deal with the fall-out from a self-immolating coffee machine that cremated my kitchen work surface and floor, cascading molten metal all over the place, and a similar tendency in the the computer, which fried the graphics card, as well as the FTL sewing and the kids laminating the iron to the ironing cloth… I think I’ll go pester an iron discussion forum with that one!
Right now I’m procrastinating as I should be reupholstering an ironing board that has seen one too many dozes of fusible interfacing, and had the iron left on it long enough to raise a strong smell of burnt toast…
Some days my life closely resembles a Tom & Jerry cartoon…

Latest on delivery from the shop is ‘Towards the end of the month’… They are HOPING sooner, and seem to have quite a few folk awaiting these machines, but it looks like not next week.
This is a bit of a pain, as not only have I the washing of smaller items to organize, but piles of dirty towels and bedding and nowhere to store them, plus a need to get things scheduled so that I’m not trying to deal with a customer fitting when the machine is delivered, or trying to cut things out for customer projects while wading through piles of laundry… And making sure the parking is available and the way through cleared, the cats safely caged, the cutting table demounted…
I also need to have all the lad’s rugby/pe kit and uniform ready for the start of the new term, which isn’t going to happen if the machine isn’t delivered until after he goes back, which is what looks like happening.
When you work at home and have people coming in and out for fittings and consultations, there’s a lot more to organize than just getting the new machine in and fitted. I’m getting a bit anxious.

KeymasterThey will be in the warehouse 18-21st, I didn’t want to say as transport companies have a habit of being late. 😉

Hi Kate,
Sorry quick answer as I was doing three things at ones. 😕
When the machines touch down we have two people standing by for a few days to try to get the pre-ordered machines out as quickly as possible that day and so on. We do try. 😉
If you can PM me who the dealer is I’ll try to make sure that it gets there ASAP.

Machine to be delivered after 2:00pm tomorrow!
Thanks to one and all for advice and help. I’ll be sure to do a complete review of the machine over the next few days.
