I have a 3 year old Indesit Fridge Freezer model TW13 68YS which is now constantly freezing up all the time (the fridge part). Food constantly ruined. It isn’t under guarantee. I think it needs a thermostat? Would that be correct? Is it a big job to change it (I’m a woman 😆 ) I have checked for blockages etc all seems to be ok. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you, Liz.

Hi – it may be that you need a thermostat but before you go down that route you need to carry out afew checks and report back. You state that it is freezing up all the time – do you actually mean that you have loads of ice in the fridge or that food is freezing up? ie is the milk freezing? If it is just an ice build up the first thing to check is the door seal – does it touch the case all the way around or have you got gaps? If it is causing things to freeze up then you have to find out what temperature it is running at in the fridge – if it is running between an upper and lower temperature and that just happens to be below freezing, then you should change the thermostat. If however the motor at the back is very hot then you could have a shortage of refrigerant or the motor is failing. Check these first points and let me know the results.
