Participantnot sure if anyone can help me with this one..i dont have the model number. 😳 .however its a hotpoint condenser dryer 6kg 2000..it wasnt heating so she got an engineer out who replaced the thermostats…it soon stopped heating again so this time she called me..the previous guy had left one of the old stats which had a green dot on it but had fitted a white spot which is i believe is a 1702041 109 deg vented dryer stat..thinking this was the prob i fitted the correct green spot stat 130 deg 1701583…fitted as a kit (pair)..all the filters were clean ..anyways its stopped heating again…what could cause this to go again..she does turn it off early…thanks again..

i think you have just answered your own question tash lol, 9 times out of ten if its turned off before its had a chance to cool the elements it will pop the stat, i allways tell customers even if the clothes are dry and you want to take them out allways put it on the last ten minutes just to cool down, just out of interest you can reset them stats hope this helps smartin

There are some model specific causes of early stat failure as well. Is it a bog standard timer controlled machine or is it electronically controlled?

Those stats are NOT meant to be reset, fit the correct stat kit and I would be checking the capacitor as there was an issue with those.

I would change motor capacitor while your there. Also check to see if the machine is stopping on its own intermittantly, if it is change start relay!
