    the future of the washer
    hi all I hope you don’t mind me using this forum. I used to be a service engineer for 18 years, but I am now working in a school working towards my Open University technology (hons) degree, and soon to start teaching design and technology.( one of those midlife crisis things 25 more years sat in traffic on the M1 or a job with 13 weeks holiday a year, it all seems so clear when you break it down like that)
    My project is to try and redesign or invent something , I have come up with around 14 things I would change on a washing machine ( as engineers and users I’m sure you can come up with a lot more)
    I have to do some market research on which design would be the best one to focus on so if you could spare a few minutes I would be grateful ( along with any suggestions)

    im sure people do these things all the time.. thats why machines are like they are

    ahh halcien days, reliable mechanical timers, good quality enamel tubs with decent bearings

    motors that werent 3 phase and didnt blow up as soon as you switch them on

    theings werent that bad 15 yrs ago 😥

    i know what you mean cheap and chearful ,disposable sociaty everything made of mild steel and plastic

    i’m as much to blame , i bought a DVD player from Tesco for £16
    the DVD cost £15 can’t se it lasting 15 years
