ParticipantHiya,
I’ve a budget or around 1500 pounds and want to buy the following items-
Built under oven (considering Smeg DUC04SS) (budget £500)
Hob (considering Smeg SE64NX3)
Are these two items compatable in terms of fitting-Smegs site reccomends that the with the oven above you need to make sure your hob choice will fit?The hobs 30 high, I think worktops will be 38 thick so it should be ok in my unqualified view.
Also Slimeline fully integrated dish washer (considering Smeg D1409CA)Does anyone have coments on the Smeg Cucina range – are these products still Smeg quality or are we paying for a badge, and would be better buying off buying a less reputable brands higher end products?
Also need a Frost Free Fridge Freezer with 50/50 split ~ 60 cm wide (considering Bosch KGN34X61GB freestanding silver frost free fridge freezer)(budget ~£400)
We also need a hood/ extractor, but I need to work out what will fit as the current visor style / with cupboardabove seems to vent horizontally straight out from the rear via ducting to the outside. Does this mean we cannot have a chimney style hood without making a hole in the wall higher up to allow this to vent -or can these items go straight out horizontally?), I don’t want to spend more than £150 on this really)
Has anyone here used Biasco to buy products (we have a showroom nr Nottingham and prices seem good.
Sorry there are so many questions but theres alot to consider
Regards

Hi Ian
The Smeg appliances do look good but the build quality isn`t that good IMO. There are better manufacturers out there producing good solid appliances for about the same price that will last longer, have better guarantees and look just as good.
For example take a look at the Neff U1722N0GB and match it up with the T2124N1EU. As for the dishwasher the S5943X2 is a good quiet machine and energy efficient.
The Bosch fridge freezer is a good choice (comes from the same stable as Neff 😉 ) All Bosh and Neff products carry a full 2 year warranty backed up by nationwide service should it be required.
As for the hood yes you could have a chimney style, as you say a little work is required to think it through. Our chimney hood vents horizontally no problem, with the hose running along the top rear of the eye level cupboards to the outside vent flaps.
As for Biasco they went bust a little while ago, they have since been taken over by RTD another online retailer. There is a news article here which appeared on the homepage about it a little while ago. While they may be okay now, if it were me I would be a little wary 😉

Hi Don,
thanks thats good advice, the Neff items do seem to push our budget beyond the target by a couple of hundred!…. what other brands out do the Smegs – the reason we felt Smeg would be ok was based on friends having smeg kit with no issues for a few years, and of course the looks.
Regarding hood venting the current set up for our current cheapo under cupboard extractor is that it vents directly from the rear which if I am assuming correctly with a chimney if the hose exits the top requires a bend back down to exit behind the bottom of the hood, its hard to work out exactly whats going on without removing everything thats in place.
Thanks again

Hi Ian
Next best thing to the Neff range is AEG, take a look at the AEG31004M oven, 21602GM gas hob and the F85480VI slimline dishwasher. One year warranty on all products again with a a good nationwide service back up.
A cheaper way would be to go for a built in oven as opposed to built under, you will always get a better deal as there are many more sold generally.
If it were me I would still see if I could stretch that little extra for the Neff range.
