ModeratorI have a customer with a T/Bendix oven with badly encrusted wire shelves in the oven.
I changed the element last week and she asked me to price up a couple of new shelves. At around £20.00 each I think she would be better off trying to clean them.
I notice an oven cleaner in the shop@ which is for wiping onto the shelves then sticking them back in the oven and putting it on full heat for a period of time.
It mentions that it is not for use on ‘self clean’ linings. does that mean it is not for use on the linings themselves or that it should not be used on the shelves in ovens with self cleaning linings?jim.

Green Ariel, nice strong warm solution – chuck the shelves in overnight and they can be more or less wiped clean in the morning.
Didn’t they teach you nuffin on that detergents course? 😆 😆

Just looked through my Ukwhitegoods Laundry Guide,……………..nope, nothing about cleaning oven shelves in that. 😆
I suppose the real problem is finding a receptacle that is big enough to completely immerse these fairly large shelves.

Sunday Telegraph, seperate pages mid way, place shelves in centre, sprinkle liberally with Domestos and lay remaining half of newspaper on top. Leave overnight then seperate shelves from paper and rinse under garden tap. 😉 8)

My missus puts them in the dishwasher, then gives them a once over with a scourer while they are still hot, and they are sparkling.
