ParticipantHope someone out there can help me 🙁
The oven was working great, until the wife heard a “POP ” that tripped the mains RCD, and the fan oven lost heat. Fan still spinning, but no heat. As usual, i thought the element had blown, but on dismantling it, this was fine. I then replaced the temperature limiter part no 05 7895. This got the oven heating up, but the major problem now is that the temperature, continues to rise, and does not switch off with the thermostat. When the temp knob is turned down, there is no longer that tell tale “click “noise of the thermostat working, and hence the knob has no effect.
So the question is…which part do i replace now? and a few directions how to replace it would be much appreciated. I think its probably part no 26 3121 which is a “regulator-temperature”.
Any thoughts please
Cheers

HBN7050GB/01?
Gas capillary thermostat, so possible failure there, or earth leakage on fan oven element bypassing thermostat control. If the RCD and the limiter have failed, the latter is quite possible.
Power off if going in for further investigation.

Hi Penguin45
The model is the 01
Do you have any part no’s that you think need replacing
I actually replaced the oven element before the temperature limiter, so will the earth leakage still be a possibility?
Unfortuately i’m not a technician, but i am capable at replacing the faulty parts. I just dont want to replace everything in the oven trying to track down the fault
Any other help would be appreciated
Cheers

The element would have been the main earth leakage IMO
Most likely the thermostat as P45 mentioned 😉IIRC, the main oven stat is piggy backed onto lhs selector, the p.no is 489378. This is available by emailing spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk

Hi
Thanks for the quick replies.
Can you just explain what IIRC and lhs mean…
Is it possible to test this part with a multi meter..if so what readings should i be looking for to tell if its broken and needs replacing.
Much appreciated
Cheers

Hi
IIRC = If I Remember Correctly
LHS = Left Hand SideThe element should read app 20 – 30 ohms.
Power off first 😉Greg

IIRC – If I recall correctly.
LHS – Left hand side.I take it that the trip went prior to replacing the element and the limiter? If so, this only leaves the thermostat. If it’s done it since, the new element may have been damaged. Element should read 25-30 ohms when split from the circuit, there should be no reading to earth from the terminals. Note that is unlikely that a domestic multimeter will pick up an earth leak – an insulation tester is the ideal tool.

Hi
The element is new as is the temp limiter.
The oven heats up, but does not respond to the temp knob, it just keeps heating up and up.
Am wondering if i can test the presumed faulty temp regulator, if so anybody know what reading i should be expecting for this part.
Cheers

Either closed contacts or open contacts depending if temp has been reached.

Hi,
I’ve got a Bosch HBN7050GB/01 too which started out with a similar problem to dirk.diggler0.
A copy element blew in the main oven and another was fitted. However, although the fan worked the new element would not heat up. I removed the temperature limiter which had blown and replaced with part no 057895 purchased from Whitegoods. When fitted the problem was solved. (Or so I thought!)
The oven worked for about a week and then another loud POP 😥 The element had blown, and on removal so had the new limiter.
Is the real problem with the main oven thermostat? Or is it likely that the copy element was responsible? I’m prepared to buy the 3 parts incl the t’stat (the parts are in “the cart” as I speak) but I’d hate to blow £65 needlessly.
Techy help would be very gratefully received.
Thanks

One further thought. When I gently turn the top oven knob up/down there is a very definate ‘click’ but virtually no sound from the main oven knob. Significant ❓

Yes.
With the power off and the rear inner panel removed, set the thermostat to, say, 150c. Apply heat (cigarette lighter) to probe above heater. You should hear the thermostat “click” over pretty sharpish. No click = knackered.

Hey,
Thanks for the lightning fast reply. Will check as soon as possible.
So if it’s knackered, that would have caused the damage to the element and temp limiter?

Yup, the temperature would just rise and rise………. Bang!
