Participantwe had an issue with a blocked drainage pipe, which is now resolved, but had caused the dishwasher to fill and leak; this had happened before and I was aware thanks to the forum of this causing the bottom plate filling with water (error of 4 flashes of the start button). So I’ve tilted the d/w and drained this off, leaving it to dry 24h as suggested. However it still won’t work. On starting a new wash it pumps for 30s then starts beeping continuously. On opening the door the start light is flashing twice; I’m sorry but I couldn’t find this error code in the forums…
The Service number is 8542 406 01710 and the Ser is 33 0137 001541.
Any help greatly appreciated, and if there’s a list of whirlpool DWF 406 error codes somewhere on the site I’d be very grateful for a pointer!
Thanks,
Ben

Not quite right – 4 flashes is drain not detected in the time allowed. 2 flashes is flood protectioon float switch activated. If you’ve had the base off to deal with the blockage, it is possible that the polystyrene float is not locted properly, or it has indeed leaked.

Thanks for this Penguin, must be a case of memory-failure, I thought 4 was flood; maybe I haven’t done it enough. I’ll try again; I hadn’t taken the base off, just tilted it and left it to dry. If I’m going to take the base off, are the screws accessible without lying the d/w on its side? I’ve read on here (and understand completely) that you can’t turn a d/w upside down, and would immagine the same is true for putting them on their sides (water leaking into sensitive electrics)?
Is there any chance of getting a complete list of the error codes? This beast seems to be problem-prone, and everytime it’s a different flasher…8O
Thanks again,
Ben

Lean machine back to a good angle to access the two screws near the front.

Penguin,
unplugged, tipped it back, got the front panel off, undid first two screws of the base plate, accessed what looked like the polysterene float you mentioned (white, about 2″ dia, moves up about 5mm), it was damp so dried it off, wobbled it around, checked it was free then closed everything again. mains back in, switched on and it’s now doing a rinse cycle as if it were new, yahoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😆
Thanks for everything, if you ever come to Rome, this ex-pat will be offering the beer!
