Called this afternoon, the drive belt was adrift. I fitted a new belt but as soon as I spun the drum pulley the belt came off again.

Closer inspection revealed that the motor appears to have moved backwards off its mounting lugs over 10 mm. The bolts were tight and I cannot see the machine running for 10 months in this condition so I can only assume the motor has worked loose. I slackened the bolts, pushed the motor back onto the lugs and tightened the bolts. I left the new belt on just in case. hopefully it will remain in place, if not I will have to find some way of locking the motor on by way of large washers or similar.

Has this type of BEKO drum/motor mounting any history of motors coming off the mounting lugs?

It has happened Jim, we’ve had a few but not anywhere near enough to give cause for concern. I think it may be the odd one that doesn’t get the bolts fully tightened at factory.

These bolts were right up tight, will keep an eye on it, a washer or even a small self tapper screwed into the split of the drum moulding on either side should prevent it happening again.

had the same today, motor had moved so far back it was on the floor!…..sadly breaking the rear motor mount on the tub as it did so 😥 Screws were still in tight, seems the expansion method is not good enough.

Had a service call on an ISE 5 Mk1 this morning, 18 months old, motor brushes worn out. I was able to pull the motor off its mountings without loosening the fixing screws which were all screwed up tight.

It’s weird this, there’s a few of them that have done this and hundreds that haven’t. 😕

Have you got the serial numbers at all? Just thinking it might just be a batch of tank halves or motors that weren’t quite right.

    Re: ISE 5. Belt adrift.

First one I did was serial number 06-101131-03 installed 13 June 07.

This mornings machine was serial number 06-101255-06 installed 05 Oct 06.

The one this morning had a talcum like dust all over the motor etc, it looked like the motor was rubbing away at the mountings. This machine had had some stick but the first one was not overused.

Oh dear, had one of these today, both rear mountings ripped clean off the drum. :rolls:
