ParticipantIs there any value in using Finish Dishwasher Cleaner?
Or is it just something they sell to rake in more money?
❓

No, for once that isn’t a con and can help small pipes getting blocked as well as build up of bacteria and therefore stops bad smells. Regular cleaning can help stop a myriad of silly problems.
There are however alternatives such as Glisten dishwasher cleaner which we like as well as a Fairy one now.

Just be carefull though, because that’s what caused my machine to flood….

KeymasterWhat caused it to flood?
I’ve never heard of a cleaner causing any harm.

It created loads of foam which spilled out of the machine and into the bottom tray. I’m certainly not doing it again!

Hi,
There’s no foaming agent in the cleaners at all so far as I am aware so it shouldn’t cause that. Are you sure there wasn’t maybe something else in there that caused it?

I put nothing else in there and the machine runs daily, so I don’t see what else it could have been. As I said, I won’t be using it again and I’m just making people aware of what happened to me. If you don’t believe me, that’s up to you.

It’s not a question of whether I believe it or not fioblack, I just want to understand it as I’ve never heard of that happening and I’ve been using various cleaners myself for over a decade without any fuss. I,ve also recommended goodness knows how many people to use them (hundreds at least if not thousands) and never had an issue.

Finish dishwasher cleaner is the mortal enemy of Fisher and Paykel dishdrawers.
About 3 times out of 10 when used in a drawer they cause an F1 (overflow).
Apparently now in New Zealand the packaging says not to use in dishdrawers.Having said that i’ve never seen a problem with the average dishwasher using them.

KeymasterFull size tablets are another mortal enemy of the Dishdrawer as well. It’s cool looking but ultimately not so practical IMHO.

I personally like them (dishdrawers) even though I work on them all the time.
Main faults are customer related, as a washer they perform very well.
but thats a different thread.April 23, 2008 at 9:12 pm #249705boselecta
Participanthad exactly that last weekend on a bosch dishwasher flooded her kitchen, incurance job. Loads of foam in appliance.
After this I would never recomend these things to any customer, had I done that before she used them she would be claiming on my public liability insurance. -
