I have someone saying I badly advised them to buy a zanussi washing machine because 15 months down the line it’s broken down. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was fixed but 3 visits, a pump, heater and main PCB haven’t fixed the fault.

Any ideas what could be causing it? I’m assuming there’s no error code but don’t know for sure. When she says it takes 6 hours to do a 1 hour wash I’m assuming it does finish eventually.

Sorry, my wording possibly implies I’m trying to fix it. I’m not looking at this machine myself I was just seeing if it was some known issue I could advise her to tell her repairman about.

If it wasn’t heating or filling up too slow wouldn’t it trigger an error code and abort? This one appears to just keep washing until eventually finished which in theory they shouldn’t do because how can it take that long and not time out on somethin?

I think I’ve got my answer. It looks like it’s, NO there isn’t a known common problem that would account for this. Maybe that’s why the guys have tried 3 parts and not fixed it. These are the IG engineers.

    “Pffttt”.

Whilst working for Hotpoint I went to a machine that had four different engineers from Norweb ( local electricity board ) who couldn’t find a leak on an Electra (Hotpoint) twin tub. Not one of them had the common sense to ask the customer just exactly where she saw the leak.

When I was asked to attend to this machine I did ask this simple question, when she pointed to the place the machine was stored, I pointed out to her the leak that was coming from the central heating radiator on the wall behind the washing machine. :rolls:
