ParticipantHi –
Fridge-freezer :
[built-in] whirlpool ARG917 (that’s all it says, no /G/WP or any of that)
TR902802383Existing thermostat has K59-L2522 (Ranco) on it.
No-where in the UK seems to supply them, the google results are all in germany and seem to imply that a generic Ranco is good enough. However I already have a ranco K59 (L1129/500) from partmaster which is what they list for the ARG917 variants… NOT this one it turns out – mine has 2 extra spade connector-ended cables which the partmaster part doesn’t have blades for ..!
Not sure what to do ..
The FF is now working on permanent, pretty much, as I’ve had to adjust the calibration screw so far in …
Any help welcome!!

There is still info available for 8 different version of this f/f and they all have the same stat bar the original ARG917.
Does your f/f have Philips Whirlpool written on it or does it just say Whirlpool?
If it has Philips Whirlpool written on and there are no letters after the ARG917 it then the stat should be part number 481927128788 which will be available from the shop below.

Thanks –
It has Philips Whirlpool and no letters after the ARG917 on the panel. can’t find that part number on this site though. Found a reference to it somewher else but the photo of the supposedly equivalent part doesn’t look like it’s got nearly enough conectors.
(This fridge/freezer is probably 20yrs old btw – might that make it an “original 917” ?)

Further ..
I was in fact mistaken in thinking the existing thermostat had 5 blades + earth. It’s actually that two of hte incoming connectors are doubled-up/back so I’ve actually fitted the K59CL now – waiting to see if it works! Bit fraught routing the thermal probe bit but hopefully I’ve avoided kinking it …johnmac11 wrote:There is still info available for 8 different version of this f/f and they all have the same stat bar the original ARG917.

Fridge was made in June 1990, stat number I have given above is looks correct.
A quick email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and Dave will source the stat for you.
