    Hi Guys

I just come back from my holidays to find that my dishwasher won’t work.

I’ve found some useful advise on here in the past but alas Ican’t seem to locate anything directly this time.

The error is 2 flashes. I’ve seen in other posts that this could be flood protection float switch activated, but that was for a different model, so i thought it worth asking again.

It seems to be draining OK (i did a few tests). And i don’t know if it may be worth mentioning but there was a strange white residue that looked like emulsion paint at the bottom of the dishwasher. We have had decorators in recently but they swear blind that they’ve not used the dishwasher to clean trays etc.

    Anyway, any help gratefully received

As a side Question, How long would you expect one of these devices to last? We’ve had this one about 7 years.

    Cheers

    Sid

This is the float switch error. White deposits on the base plate are quite common – the breather tubes do dribble into the base form time to time and leave dried soap deposits. In your position, assuming the tray is dry, I’d pull the filters and have a look at the black grid in the 3 o’clock position in the sump. This is the water level switch and it gradually fills with all sorts of fatty deposits. If you’ve been away on holiday, these will have had time to solidify and hold the switch in the closed position…… Plenty of hot water and a violent attack with an old toothbrush may clear the grid, failing that, you’ll have to remove it for a more scientific clean. It’s a twist fit from underneath.

    Power off first, of course.

    Cheers Penguin! Worked first time.

I threw a couple of kettles of just boiled water plus a bit of an assault with the wife’s toothbrush and all is working again 😛
