Got a call from an old boy the other day saying that his intergrated fridge freezer was playing up and that his neighbour had suggested he should take it out and tip it upside down and give it a shake about and that would probably sort it out. The problem was he said, was that he could not do it on his own so he asked what i thought he should do. I suggested he tip HIS neighbour upside down and give HIM a shake about! :rotl:
Called round and wrote off FF (Gas Leak) and sold him new one.

Tipping them upside down and giving the pipework a good banging was the classic way to clear a blockage on absorption units. We used to have quite a few of these in old Morphy Richards fridges both electric and gas when I was at Hotpoint.

I’m sure the same type of system is still used today in the small caravan/boat fridges made by Electrolux.

It was usually only a temporary fix but I have seen the odd one work for several years after the inversion method. 😆

It may well work for an absorbtion system, but on a vapour compression system, its not a very wise thing to do. 🙂

Subs and Jim are right, absorption it will work which means it’s either really old or the size of a large shoebox.

For anything else, not a good plan, not a good plan at all. 😉
