ParticipantHi,
am getting E20 codes on above washer dryer. Fluff filter on front is clear and when disconnected drain hose it had water in it. Machine stops mid cycle with water in drum.
Is the pump blocked or could there be something blocking drainage inside machine?
If pump how do you remove it to check ?

OK have removed pump easy really – Turn off power and just lie machine on side. The pump is at bottom of machine just behind the fluff filter towards the front (just follow the drain hose towards the front of machine if you can’t see it).
From underneath remove the three screws that secure it in place. Unclip the two wires as well. A small amount of water will drop out of it.
The impeller piece (plastic housing) can be removed from the main body by unclipping the tabs on either side and sliding it out of the magnet.
Question I now have is: should the impellor be stiff to turn or should it be really free? Have tried some WD40 doesn’t seem to make it any better as yet.

Firstly, you should only lie this machine on its left hand side looking from the front. Tipping it over the other way can allow water to get to some very expensive components.
The pump should not spin freely but should ‘flick’ round as you try to turn it.
If you didn’t find anything blocking the pump and you are certain that the outlet to the sink or drain is clear the next thing you need to do is to check the pump electrically.

ParticipantJim,
What about when its out of the coil – should it be free then ?
I’ll test it later when I’m home.

It should spin freely if removed from coil.
If you find you need a new pump This is the one you need.
