    My WF240 has been having a few problems recently.

    The main bearing started sounding a bit loud – but it still feels free/stable and I’m not too worried yet.

    All the lights flashed yesterday… I took the top off, rotated the drive belt by hand and it now doesn’t flash any more.

    The BIG problem I am having is that it’s stuck on wash cycle. It WILL NOT move on by itself and I have to stop it and put it on rinse and spin. Do’t even know if its getting to the “wash” part or its its stuck on the “filling the drum” pre-wash bit.

    It fills with water OK and runs the drum back and forth, bit I don’t know if it’s technically “washing” yet…

    Any guidance please?

    hi, chances are that the heater has failed, easy to test from the rear with a test meter, Please make sure the plug is out first though

    Thanks – can you point me in the right direction of the heater? photo perhaps?? I have multimeter so can test – just need to find it! Is this accessible through the “hatch” at the back?

    If the bearings are noisy I would strongly advise you to get them sorted ASAP, don’t wait until they collapse or until the machine is over 5 years old or you will be faced with severe expense.

    I’ve found the heater ok, disconnected it and had the multimeter across the green/blue and green/brown terminals which I presume are the ones to test – Nothing. Tried each of these against earth too and still nothing.

    I’m guessing that this is the way to test it?

    Question is – how on earth does it come off!!!!

    Yup, heater has failed – you need one of THESE.

    To remove, slacken the nut, remove the thermistor and prise…….. There is a compressed rubber seal behind the plate which will fight you.

    I presume you mean the one in the middle that’s the earth terminal? (this bit’s all new to me!)

    Thanks Guys. All sorted. Heating element arrived yesterday – took 10 mins to fit. No fight encountered! Undoing the nut to half its length, so it stays on the thread, then pushing hard with the shaft of a hammer released the pressure enough – it just prized out easily.

    Ran a short load and working perfectly again.
