    Hi,

    My hotpoint aquarius FDW60 has a failed door catch. The microswitch still operates but the door will not latch shut. I can physically move the catch with a probe but it seems ‘floppy’ my guess is a leaf spring or the like has failed.

    I think it will be a simple job to sort so long as i can dismantle the door. Can anyone help out with an exploded diagram, or instructions on how to dismantle the door?

    You will need a new door latch, part number C00195887, it is not yet in the shop@ however an e-mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should get you sorted.

    Diagrams are copyright material so we cannot publish them. The screws that hold the door panels together are all on the inside of the door, just make sure you remove the mains plug and take great care with the inner door edges, they are razor sharp.

    how easily do the various sections of the door come apart? can i remove just the screws holding the fascia around the handle, or do i need to remove the whole front panel?

    Im an electrical engineer so know to remove the mains feed before working, but thanks for the heads up on the state of the metal. The last time i worked on something like this (a washer) was years ago and with a mate who worked for a local appliance repairers, i vividly remember the hospital rush that followed the comment, ‘ere, whats all this red stuff on the drum…’ 😆 😯

    You do need to remove the complete facia, sometimes the wiring is a bit short so removing the main door panel makes the job easier. The part is very cheap and quite easy to fit.
