    Hello all

I’ve got a Hotpoint Washer Dryer which has been fine for about three years now (I say fine only one engineer call out for potentially the same issue as I’ve got now). However when we recently used the tumble dryer all seemed fine until we opened the door noticed smoke coming out.

The washing on this machine is working fine and dandy but before I call out an engineer can I fix this problem myself? I’m no electrician so are there any simple checks I can do? From what I’ve found on the net it could be some fluff that needs clearing but am I going to make things worse by trying to take the thing apart?

    Any advice would be appreciatted.

    Thanks

It could be fluff on the element, if it is you would need to take the dry unit off and spit the dry housing in half. Unless you are competant and have a set of torx bits to take the unit off call your local repair agent. If you do do it yourself switch off the power. I would advise calling out your local repair man rather than calling hotpoint out who will charge £90.

    Thanks for the advice.

I’m not at all competent so an engineer it is!
