In what we feel may well be a bid to take things just too far, Unilever who make Persil here in the UK have announced a Peggy, smart clothes peg for Australia under their OMO brand.
Yes, you read that correctly. A smart clothes peg.
The point of which, other than as a PR stunt completely escapes all of us here.
Inside its orange shell so you know it’s not a normal clothes peg, as if the size of the thing wouldn’t give the game up lies a thermometer, a ultraviolet sensor and a humidity detector. These sensors track the weather outside and for example, if it’s going to rain, triggers alerts to your phone over WiFi.
But hold on a minute, surely if you’ve got a smartphone or tablet that you can get the alert/s on then you already have a garage of weather apps that will tell you if and when it will probably rain, perhaps even just as if not more accurately?
Yep, you do.
Okay so if you program the thing with the time that the washing will take it will tell you when the machine completes the load and if it’s okay to put the washing out. But, really, talk about surplus to requirements, this is actually a worse idea than some of the other daft connected appliance stuff we’ve seen!
If you’re life won’t be complete unless you know all the fantastically over the top peg will do we’ve embedded the video below.
Seriously, first time we read about this Peggy thing, we honestly thought it was a joke and we’re still baffled by why anyone would want a Peggy!
