ParticipantHi,
I bought a house last year, and the kitchen must be 30 years old! Can’t quite afford to replace it yet due to skintness, so am making do with the current double oven installed.
It’s an Ocean DFO W(white), and apart from being very dirty inside (cleaned now), it worked quite well. Bottom oven is fan assisted which we’ve never had before. Quite impressed. Anyway, at the weekend, the element blew up. So I immediately went in the internet to try and find a Spare. I couldn’t find anything on the DFO W, it must be that old!
So help! Can anyone help out with advice on a new heater element for the DFO W or a User Manual or both?!
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I think these were sold through Comet, so given its age, there would be little chance of finding a user book.
Ocean is now part of Brandt, so again finding the pukka part may be difficult. Piccy might help – we can probably find something by way of “best fit”.

Hi,
I do have some pics, will post when I download them off camera.
I have had differing opinion as to which element to use as well, Brandt 2277 (77X2277), and Homark 2300, both of which look similar, but the 2277 has pretty much the exact same dimensions as the original.
Also, I rang Brandt UK and they said they could provide Ocean User Manuals, so I gave them my details and they said they would post one out. When they loko into it though I think they may realise that it’s probably a little too old for their archives. We’ll see.
Will post some pics soon.
Cheers!
Andy.

I know what it is – it’s just not coming………. 🙁 I have PM’d Mr Conway to inspect the piccies – if he can’t work it out, it isn’t out there anymore.

Oh. That’s great!
The 3 knobbed version manual would be very much appreciated…there will probably by some common areas that I can learn from.
Cheers, appreciate it.

Hi,
Thanks for the manual.
It doesn’t contain any instructions with respect to replacing the element, but I guess this will be fairly straight forward when I get the oven out and on the floor.
It may help with the clock controls though, as there are some similar elements. I know I could set the oven to come on for various times, but I just don’t know how, maybe the manual you sent will help. Thanks.
I’ve still not heard from Brandt UK though. They said they could help me out with a manual. Maybe they can’t. Will keep looking though.
Cheers,
Andy. -
