ParticipantMorning everyone, looking for some help.
I have a less than one year old service Fridge freezer am7443b i think, it is the second one I’ve had, the previous was replaced by the retailer for excessive noise (sounded like it had squeeky wind). This new one is a little noisy all the time the compressor runs but the problem i am finding is that it makes cracking type noises when the compressor appears to start up and less so when switching off, expansion/contraction type sounds.
It is running fine from a keeping cold point of view though.
I intend to call servis service but have to say don’t hold out a lot of hope so I thought I’d post on here and see if anyone had any clues or indeed suggestions with regard to what I should do/say to the service dept.
thanks

This is a fairly common noise associated with the use of new non CFC refrigerants. It is caused by two things, one is that the temperature at which the refrigerant operates is cooler than previous refrigerants and the second is that the refrigerant is much thinner than previously used. Put these together and you get squeeking, creaking and banging, as the pipework expands and contracts within its surrounding insulation. Not much you can do and it is not restricted to Servis appliances.

KeymasterIt can be I’m afraid and there’s little that can be done to cure it either. 🙁
Several manufacturers have had this problem especially, as Ian says, where R600A iso-butane gas is used. Squeaking, gurgling, groaning and cracking is not at all uncommon.
As a general rule, there is really nothing that a service engineer can do to improve it as, as I often say to people, we can fix the machines but we can’t make them perform beyond the limitations of the design.
