How does one replace a built-in fridge freezer ?
Are there standard sizes to match the panel sizes on the current model ?
thanks

Hi swayzac
Built in fridge freezers generally come in two door sizes 50 / 50 split and a 70 / 30 split. As far as the internal timber cabinet measure goes they are normally 55cm wide. The only thing to check would be the height of the appliance itself as they do vary a little.
If you can post back the make and model of your existing machine I may be able to come up with a replacement for you.

Many thanks.
I’m currently trying to establish the model – I fear that the internal sticker (as Whirlpool informed me) is no longer present therefore may have to resort to photographs !
Will post back.

4 years down the line – Google search for replacing my aging fitted fridge-freezer & I’ve discovered my own (forgotten) thread !
Can you still help if I get dimensions ?!

You only need the dimensions of the cabinet and the cabinet door sizes, ie, the size of the hole!

Right…
Panels:top = 60cm w x 90cm h
bottom = 60 w x 91 hdepth = 64.3

Hi
From those measurements you have a 50:50 split machine which stands at the usual 178cm tall. It’s by far the most popular combination so availability should not be a problem.
All the main stream manufacturers produce at least one unit. It now comes down to budget and your own expectations on build quality and lifespan.

Thanks
How much hassle is it to dismantle the panels & reassemble around new unit ?
Should I get a “white goods installer” to do this ?

Hi
If you are competent at DIY then not to bad, the fiddly part is getting the doors to fit on the new appliance.
Any good independent retailer will be able to supply and provide an installation service should you not want do do it yourself.

There is 2 types of f/f, door on door and door slider, make sure you get the correct one

We have just moved into a flat in High Wycombe and found the built-in fridge freezer was not working. We have spent an age trying to find a replacement and some-one who will deliver and install it. The original model was Electrolux ER 8034 I. We rang Electroluxx and they say the replacement is ENN2853AOW or (AEG) SCT51800S0. We’ve since been told the ..AOW has been superseded by the ENN2853COW, though that seems to have at least a month’s delivery. We also can’t find anyone who would supply and install the fridge freezer.
Any suggestions or advice? We’re getting desperate!

Hi
If your’e getting desperate then I would leave the Electrolux alone.
I would visit a local independent retailer who will be able to offer you good advice and able to install.
Independent retailers who belong to RETRA are reputable ones, you can search for ones local to you here
