ParticipantHi there,my daughter has a Proline freezer PLC218W.She had it just over a year from new when it stopped working.I found that when you switch it on the compressor starts up,runs for 8 seconds only and stops.It does this every time.Can anyone offer any advice as to whether it can be repaired or not.Is there a part I can buy to fix it for her easily or is it too difficult for a competant DIYer. ❓

To be honest the cost isnt the factor here..the compressor should have lasted more than 14 months and the retailer has a duty of care to repair this free of charge.
Tell them that this should not have failed ,try to do it on a saturday when the shop is full.
Its not right that the bucket shops can just say tough luck.

i suspect you bought it from comet… and its a major component failure.. theyre obliged to repair it for you
