    This is very confusing.
I have a Hotpoint 9920 washer drier with a cracked tub front. Partfinder shows the 9920 as a metal tub machine; this one has a plastic tub. The 9936 uses the same looking tub front plate but is fitted with the wide lip door gasket. This seems to be for the later machines as it states “fitted after date code 90”. This 9920 has the stainless collar on the tub front plate and a door gasket reminiscent of a late 95 series machine.
What I can’t discover is whether the 9936 tub front plate (Connect no. 5031681642819) will fit without having to buy the wide lip door boot on top. I’m not sure, but I seem to remember tapping the stainless collar off a tub front plate. If this is possible, would it be likely to fit the new plate?

Any help on this please!!! 😕

    Steve.

    Re: Hotpoint 9920 tub front.

A bit of a strange one this, I have loads of old tech bumf and manuals laid out in front of me. There is no mention of the 9920 being fitted with a plastic drum. 😕
In fact the later 9925/6 models also had a vitreous drum to start with.

The 9920 manual, dated July 1991 has nothing about the plastic drum at all.

the 9925/6 manual dated Sept 1992 has both the vitreous and plastic drum details.

It also lists two different drum fronts. A 1600383 drum front which will only fit machines built after DC76 April 92) Earlier machines use drum front plate kit 1600387.

both of these have been superceded by 1601945. 🙂

Thanks very much for the help, guys!!! 😀
A 9920 fitted with a plastic tub was strange enough, as I couldn’t find any record of it either. The customer says it hasn’t been modified, but she is elderly and I cannot discount her having forgotten. But I would have thought that the conversion from enamel tub to plastic would have been complicated, if not unworkable.
    Don’t know……. 😕 .
I’ve ordered the 1601945 and I’ll get the matching gasket just in case. Cheers for the info!!

    Re: Hotpoint 9920 tub front.

Since the time I stripped a virtually brand new Hotpoint and found it had left the factory with its front drum bearing missing, nothing now surprises me 😉 They probably ran out of some part needed for the enamel tub version and used whatever parts were needed to keep production going.

    Re: Hotpoint 9920 tub front.

I have just looked at my back order list from Connect and 1601945 tub front has disappeared……it was there yesterday…… 😕
Typed in 1601945 – showing obsolete!!!!! OMG, it’s already been 3 weeks on order……customer is being very patient……she rings today, “getting desperate – any news?”…. now it’s obsolete…… :cuss:

This is not fair. No notification at all from Connect. Just as well she rang and I checked. Now I have to eat humble pie, lose the job and trust through no fault of my own. Bloody Connect!!! I am not happy. 😈

As a last ditch attempt, has anyone got a good s/hand one they would part with??

    Thanks,

    Steve.
