    Hi all,

I have a query, and seeing as my technical knowledge expands only to computers i was hoping i could ask you guys for some troubleshooting.

I have a 5 year old Samsung american style Fridge freezer, the fridge works fine, the freezer however is a different story.

The freezer will not stay at the desired temperature (currently -21)…but the led temperature display on the front of the freezer still says its at this temperature. The strange thing is, when i turn the fridge freezer off at the mains and then back on again, it picks up its true temperature and starts freezing again?

As i said my componant knowledge of appliances is slim to none, and i was hoping someone could help me diagnose the fault as i’d really like to get the freezer working properly again….other than this i’ll have to pop it on a timer to switch it off and on once every 12 hours….lol!!!

    Thanks in Advance

    Hi

I dont seem to have this model on file but lets treat it the same as a standard rs21.

Does this appliance defrost fully in the freezer ?

Is there any chance that you have even slightly left the door open even a couple of mm ?

It may well be a defrost problem either in the fridge or the freezer.

    Hi Bryan,

Thanks for your quick reply, i have checked the door and seal and it closes perfectly as far as i can tell. The only thing which i can see on the seal is that the corners have become slightly less supple than the rest. But still the door closes fine and the seal meats the frame.

I switched it off and on just before my last post and its re-freezing fine (currently at -16). But after a few hours it will just start to defrost again….i really can’t put my finger on it, as the thermometer clearly works and it has the ability to re-freeze.

Another thing i noticed is that sometimes u hear it clunk as if the motor is kicking in and it will run with a humming noise for a while, before going back to silent. Is this normal or could it be related?

I’m going to try and monitor how long it freezes for before the temp starts rising….its completely baffling me though.

    Thanks again

    Donna
