ParticipantFridge wont go higher or lower than 10c regardless of thermostat setting.
Compressor can be heard coming on and going off to maintain that temperature the back panel ices up within a short time of compressor start up. Turning thermostat 1-5 makes no difference. Am I correct tp assume that the thermostat is the most likely culprit.
If so how much should I expect to pay for a replacement and is it a difficult job to replace the defective unit?
Many thanks for any replies in advance.May 22, 2008 at 3:14 am #252676admin

Hi
What are you using to check the temprature ?
How long does the compressor run for when it comes on and does approx 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the back wall ice up ?.

Thanks for your response. The thermometer is a freezer/fridge thermometer that I have had for some years its accurate because Ive tested it another fridge in my property.
Ive monitored the on and off cycle time and its more or less consistant the on time being 4mins and the off time 18mins. With the fridge door open the off time was 14mins but again the on time was 4mins. As regards to the back panel it freezes approx 70{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of surface in the time that compressor is on.
I hope this helps you with diagnostics and many thanks for your help.May 23, 2008 at 3:52 pm #252678satinser

As a follow on to my last post have now found by bypassing the thermostat the compressor works continually there by proveing that the thermostat was in deed the problem. Have today ordered a replacement unit from Whitegoods Spares.
