Drain not detected in the time allowed. If the machine is not draining, you may have a blockage or drain pump failure. If the machine is draining, remove filters and look at the black grid at the three o’clock position. It’s a diaphragm switch and may be being held in the closed position due to the build-up of fat in the grid. Scrubbing out with very hot water and a toothbrush will often clear it.

I have the same problem with my Whirlpool ADP4107. I have cleaned ALL the filters including the one mentioned above but it continues to pump and pump and then the flashing light (4 sequence) comes back.
OH has taken the bottom off the dishwasher to have a look but everything is clean and/or sealed.
Any other ideas?
HELP!!!!

Presumably the switch mechanism has failed and you need one of THESE. It’s a twist fit from underneath, so power off first.
Can’t find any reference to an ADP4107 in the UK – you might like to double check that number.

Thanks Penguin45. Is it possible to remove the existing one to check it? If so how is this done?
The ADP4107 is a French model (Brit living in France) but it seems to be very similar to several UK models. I didn’t post on the European bit of the forum – hope that’s OK 🙂 only this area seemed more pertinent to me query.
Anyway, if this switch can be removed for checking it would be great to know how to do it.
Thanks again

Lean machine back, lower front panel and base panel off. The thing turns about a third of a turn anti-clockwise, then you have to wiggle it over the heater tube.
Power off, first.
Bon chance,

Merci Pingouin45 🙂 !!
I will get OH to have a go at that and check the switch. If it is faulty then you may just have saved my hands from doing dishes!!
I’ll let you know.
Thanks again

Well we took the switch off – and thoroughly cleaned the area above the diaphragm as it was still very dirty – put it back on and checked that the switch was working (which it is) but the machine is still trying to pump out all the time and eventually comes up with the 4 flash sequence – presumably this is now a time out to stop the pump?
Anyway, it almost seems as if the machine has got itself in a tangle and needs some sort of programme reset – is this possible? If so, how do we do it? There must be some sort of sequence?
Any ideas?

There is no re-set procedure as such. You can clear the existing programme (and fault) by holding down the start button until you get the beep. Shut door, drain pump should run for approx 1 minute, then you can re-programme the machine and see what happens.
I got caught with an F4 last week – replaced switch assembly and still got the four flashes – turned out the connector block had got wet and was allowing electricity through.
