    Hi,

This is my 2nd post, fixed our F&P washing machine last week, now the dishwasher doesn’t work!

The drain pump is not working…just stops when it gets to the drain part of the cycle…I can hear the pump quietly humming at this stage. After a few minutes I get a ‘C2’ error.

I pulled the pump out a few days ago and there appeared to be nothing blocking or jamming it, it looked as clean as a whistle. I can’t seem to see any blockage in the hose either. The filter is also clean…I replaced it a few months ago as the old one had started to tear (I dont know whether this is significant or not).

The impeller seemed to be reasonably free…I could turn it over by hand ok. It wasn’t as free as say a bicycle wheel, but it wasn’t tight either.

Anyway I reinstalled it and it started to work again. Its done about 10 cycles since.

This morning I turned it on and there was a small/quiet clunk and the pump is now not working again…same deal I can hear it humming…this is very quiet though.

Intending to pull it out again, but is it likely the pump has had it?

Also is the pump just a simple 240v motor? I noticed there’s a capacitor underneath…does the drain pump have capacitor start? Could that be the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Re: AEG Favorit 6081 – Drain Pump Problem

Info on the wretched magnetic pump motor HERE.

If you pull the drain pump and disassemble it, the pump impellor should turn freely – it should resist every quarter of a turn, then “ping” over. If it feels stiff, gratey or loose, it should be replaced. If you take hold of the impellor and try to wiggle it from side to side, if there is any lateral movement, the magnet has worn the plastic housing and will need to be replaced.

Thanks for the info…armed with that knowledge I will pull it out again and inspect.

Hope it’s ok, I checked and the pumps are not cheap!

    Hi

If its a magnetic type pump then a standard ASKOLL pump should do you which isnt that expensive.

Thanks…I did see some of those type on ebay Australia also.

Does the one you linked to actually have the impeller housing as well (its a bit unclear from the photo)…effectively I need something that I can attached the 2 rubber hoses to ie one that comes out of the base of the washer and the drain hose connects to the other end. It also has a check valve/flap integrated into it also.

Mine kinda looks more like this…

Its ok…I pulled it to bits and can see now how it all fits together.

Still not sure why its jamming though…seems free enough + no play in impeller.
