I have 2 of these in for repair. One has blown the triac that’s mounted on the motor. The other one seems to be either a motor or triac fault. It looks like these motors can’t be dismantled and I can’t work out how they are wired internally. There are 3 wires going to the motor:
    Neutral, blue
Live from On / Off switch, black
Controlled live from the triac, brown

logically this would suggest that one brush and one field coil wire would be joined and go to blue, the other brush would go to black and the other field coil wire to brown. Meter readings on both motors do not bear this out, however. I get high resistance between black and the other 2 but only a few ohms between the brown and blue. I suppose there could be a capacitor in the motor which would cause misleading readings. Does anyone have experience with these machines?

Jeez, 3 minutes after I posted it! I just realised what I’d done and was doing copy/delete/paste to move it but you beat me to it 😆
