ParticipantMy machine occasionally freezes. It usually occurs during the final spin stage – and the machine can only be reset by unplugging it. I’ve spoken to a hotpoint engineer (by telephone) who suggests that the fault code displayed (ON/OFF light, Time Saver & Rinse Hold flashing) indicate a short somewhere. It’s completly intermittant, and has not improved despite cleaning out the filter bowl, pump, standpipe etc. Does anyone have a suggestion as to a) what exactly this fault code indicates? and b) what repair(s) are needed? Thanks for your help.

Participantif its intermittent, its more likely to be a pcb fault tbh

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Aquarius WD440 Washer/Dryer
It seems to heat OK, and the fault only every appears at the end of a spin cycle – which makes me think a PCB fault myself (shorting when disturbed during spin cycle).
Does anyone have an approx idea of cost for a replacement pcb? – The machine is still under it’s 5 year parts warranty, so if it’s more than Euro 141.00 I’m better off getting Hotpoint out to repair it.
Thanks for your help guys.
Will post my success (or lack of!)June 12, 2008 at 9:03 pm #254441helo_75
Participantyou dont just need a pcb.. youll need an erom, and thats dependant on variant/heater box type/ valves fitted
to be honest it would be cheaper to have hotpoint fit a new board and eprom, it would certainly be your cheapest option
bloody annoying, paying them to fix something they couldnt build properly

Participantall well and good john paul
board identification for the customer isnt always easy
but, if your insistant… you need to know whether the board has a j10 connection or not
next, the eprom, or software variant
several issued
1 ) hot and cold fill
2 ) cold fill
3 ) cold fill (2 of) with ‘hot’ flush
4 ) new heater boxisnt the easiest thing to figure, and this would require some input from the customer, emw cant be responsible for the eprom programming – what if some informations wrong? it simply wont work
are you trade johnpaul? do you have trade access?
if not your missing out on some healthy debate and excellent tech helphope this post helps

Hotpoint have been out today and have replaced the control board and eprom. Machine tested SATIS after the change, and has just run 3 washes successfully.
Thanks for you help guys,
