KeymasterHi Simon
It does work but, like anything that works, it needs work.
I don’t see it as being a “magic bullet” for most repairers but, like insurances, ISE, spares, consumables and whatever else you can throw into the mix, it all helps in the end to make your business more stable. And, like all the other additions mentioned, it is what you make of it really. If you want to work at it and make it a success over a few years then it’s probably a damn fine thing to do but, if you don’t really want to put any effort into it or don’t have the time to devote to another angle to your business, then its not for you.
All that said, if you happen to have the right area then it can be pretty lucrative after a year or so.
But here’s a question for you, what’s to be lost in giving it a whirl? As John is fond of reminding me and others, “If you always do what you’ve always done then you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
There’s little to be lost in trying this IMO as the risk is exceptionally low, if it doesn’t work for you well, heh, there’s worse things you could have been doing.

I would have thought the ISE machines should be a good choice for this if the claims about low spares prices are true. If people are renting something they won’t be as careful as if they had bought it so the appliances will get a hard life. You will tend to get the type of customer who claims to get through machines at a rate of 2 a year, although they won’t mention that when signing the contract!
It might be worth talking to the agencies that arrange housing for the migrant workers. Here they tend to buy secondhand machines but then they have to dispose of them again at the end of the workers fixed term contract. They may find it easier to rent machines but I suppose you would have to keep moving them around as the contracts are often only for 6 months.June 12, 2008 at 9:43 pm #254448wiper69

Hay thanks guys im gona go for it, iv recently been off work for about a year with prostrate problem, mostly all sorted now just a few aches and pains in my knackers 😯 it came out of the blue and i realised what a pit fall tempory ill health was, one min bouncing around next on my back and my business just fell, i dont have premises so manged to scrape by but lost customers so not working the full day so i have time on my hands at moment and like it was said it isent high capital risk,
i suppose ideally the target customer is someone who has expendable income but would prefer to rent?
and finding a association of somekind is ideal as probably gona cough up the money
hey thanks again any other ideas for ways to target customer would be brill
qualtex has whirlpool machine in for about 140 plus vat at moment? 5 kg any known common faults with these latest machine?
i suppose its worth paying the extra for more stable machines as less service calls, and also whats the chance of getting the manufacture out for breakdown within 1st year im presuming its now exempt maybe? or does it still apply as long as its none commercial usage by customer? even if it does they would have to wait depending on work load?

I wouldn`t rent Whirlpool machines.
Although the warranty would be covered as you`re only using them domestically, after the first year you have to repair them and Whirlpool spares are horrendously priced. Why not buy Ise2`s? Not much dearer to supply and 2 year warranty AND if they break down you get paid to fix them in guarantee.

just remember, you will need
consumer credit licence , ccta approved rental aggreements. otherwise you will just be giving the stuff away. you need dd facilties, dont use standing order. you need a money collecting method if the dds are returned unpaid. you also need data protection!! that lot cost us £15,000.good luck!
we use ise2 excellent machine.

its a good idea if you can get 20 units out there the figures are really good
over 2 & 3 year contracts students & disabled tend to hire a lot
so do hospital staff IE doctors there always on the move every 10 months
basic appliance’s are best IE hotpoint creda spares are reasonable and it doesnt take long if you had to refurb the whole unit.IE wm wma seres
bendix are very good to no calls on them.June 16, 2008 at 11:22 am #254454Micky 32

It would be good to hear from other members who are working with easi-rent. Rather than guessing at what could be, perhaps someone could tell us how it has been for them.
