had to sadly wright off a hotpoint toploader yesterday. gearbox broken up inside.
lovely condition otherwise, not a mark on it, even the inside looked new apart from some oil leakage.
    the model is 1504
    serial 2136524
this could be the oldest one i have seen, must be pre liberator.
just like to know its age out of curiosity.

Don’t forget Martin, the date code was the last two ‘bold’ digits for many years.

Date code 24 makes that machine a December 1971 production. 8) The Liberator range was in production by the mid 70’s

Liberator was an old English Electric brand name, acquired by GEC (BDA) when GEC took over English Electric some years earlier.

It was resurrected and used on the new 1850 front loader and 1507 top loader when the Amethyst (purple) colour scheme was introduced.

    Jim.
