ModeratorForgive me if this has been discussed on UKW before, but a customer today showed me this repair manual he bought off the net, obviously home made and came from Ireland at £19.95. I had a quick flick through and was somewhat shocked to see some of my work in there along with the entire contents of our own error codes thread that had been copied and pasted.

Many manufacturers now supply microprocessor controlled
machines which throw up an error code or flash the panel lights when a fault develops. The manufacturers have jealously guarded the meaning of their error codes, steadfastly refusing to disclose the vital information because it forces their customers to employ their services to rectify the fault.
This highly restrictive practice is employed in order to ringfence their profits and places you at an extreme disadvantage.
Over the past 2 years, with our extensive contacts throughout the white goods industry, we have researched, cross referenced, and exchanged information in order to compile the most comprehensive list of washing machine service codes covering all major appliances from AEG to Zanussi. We have now included this information as a valuable tool within our troubleshooting routines.
Once you have the codes for your machine you will gain the upper hand. Instead of being forced to call in a service engineer to translate the code (and pay through the nose for the privilege) you will be able to turn the tables and use the code to fast track the diagnosis and repair of your own machine!
Bearing removal 😆

I’ve seen an older copy, not a newer one with the fault code information in it.
Do you have an email address for the guy?

no contact details on it at all, not surprisingly. The only contact is through the payment link which I have not clicked on.
The thing that gets me is the whole “dont get ripped off by a repairman” attitiude of the thing.June 17, 2008 at 1:35 pm #254621admin
