ModeratorIn spite of all the bad publicity I have had virtually no problems with the electronics on the Ultima range of WMA’s the ones with the DC Chopper board in the base. In fact my own 6/7 year old WMA63 has never missed a beat.
Went to one today, very lightly used, motor, wiring harness etc pristine.
No motor action, ran diagnostics and got E31, short circuit motor triac. Has anyone else come across this and did you find any underlying cause or did a new board clear the fault?
It doesn’t look as though EMW or QER tackle these boards so I want to be as certain as I can before I bang a new £90.00 board in it. 😉

EMW does them.

So do QER it appears, e-mailed them both to check as I couldn’t find either on their web sites using model numbers. nothing remotely like it on EMW site, did find it on QER by using the number from the module label.
I was even tempted to take the one out of my machine, tell the wife ours was knackered and get an ISE 10 installed. 😉

Hi Iadom
Have had this before (while back now), changing the board cured the fault, could not find any other underlying issues.

Got a WMA76 24124228 with no motor action.
Rung out the wiring from motor to chopper board and chopper board to power module all ok. Motor is ringing out ok as well.
There are no visual faults on the chopper board or power module. What do you think chopper board or power module at fault??

Customer ( and me) finally threw the towel in on this one. got the board back from QER, full charge for repair but it made no difference.
She is now the proud owner of an ISE-5 mk2. 8)

Both, had a good power board and tried that first.
