ParticipantI called out to the above machine, reported fault was that the machine did not start and the door lock light was flashing.
I replaced door lock but still the same problem. I checked the board and there were a couple of blown tracks. So I ordered a board from EMW which when fitted the following happened. started program, filled up, then motor spun very fast then door lock light began to flash water drained and the program end light came on. I got an other board from EMW same thing happened. I have tested heater, thermistor, pressure switch, brushes and condition of wiring to motor. I have plugged in an other motor (which I have taken from an other machine, 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure it is ok) but got the same result. Can anybody help???June 19, 2008 at 8:22 pm #255379suedehead1

have you checked the wiring goig to the motor they can get rubbed against the concrete weight and will blow tracks.

As suedhead says blown tracks on the board are usualy caused by harness rubbing on balnce weight or motor brushes shorting out taking out the module, it is most common after somebody has change the tub and never tied the wiring back out off the way of the balance weight.

Thanks fellas, I did check the wiring and it’s all tied away no signs of rubbing.

spining very fast on was would indicate a taco problem or supply to taco,
i had one recently where i had changed the board and when i put it to spin the motor went straight to full speed then stopped, whe i checked the taco coil ther was no circuit though it.June 20, 2008 at 7:45 am #255383Phidom

The only way to be sure of the tacho wiring continuity is to trace the wires and do a resistance check at the module end of the harness. I don’t like the push in wiring for motor plugs they use on Hotpoints and I have known wires to come loose.

Thanks suedehead1, I think I’ll give it an other look.

The tacho can come loose on certain motors, mainly the FHP or CESET ones.
The wiring can break at the motor plug end but not be obvious unless you pull it.
TBH the harness is so cheap it may be a good idea to change it, C00201352 is the part number, around £3.50 ex vat.
Jim.
Edit. To correct part number. 😳

Turned out my motor was no good. It was the tacho.
Thanks again 🙂 -
