ParticipantWe are buying a “built in” oven and my plan at the moment is to have it installed through an actual brick wall rather than in a kitchen cabinet. The kitchen is on one side of the wall and garage is on the other side so the back of the oven will be in the garage.
Is this possible?
Does anyone else out there have an oven in a wall?
If not, please let me know as I will have to change my kitchen layout. If it is possible, what are your recommendations for fitting the oven securely in the wall and for ventilation issues?
Will we need ventilation under and above the oven into the kitchen from the garage?
Hopefully not as this would allow cold draughts through from the garage and I would again have to rethink our kitchen layout. Will I need to get a specialist to install it or will my electrician/builder know what to do?
The wall is probably about 15mm thick and I assume our builders will put a wooden frame in the hole.
Thanks for your time

I have seen a Neff in a wall, as it were. 😀
No problems providing you adhere to ventilation requirements as per manufacturers instructions.Ventilation is ventilation regardless of media.

Hi
The walls between the garage and house is normally a structral wall which will mean that a lintel will be required to be fitted into the wall above the oven.
Also if I remember correctly there is building regulations concerning this to do with the garage and fumes and or fire risks ect so it may give you problems when selling the property. The best idea is to contact your building control officer at the local council as once you do it and they find out it will be expensive to put right.
Some builders might know but some dont use there head..!! I know i’m going through it for the past 9 months.

ParticipantThanks Bryan (r600a), I had just been wondering/worrying about Building Regs too and I had just started too feel optimistic after Gregs comment 🙁
Think I’ll send them an email.
