ParticipantHi All,
Hotpoint WMA36S washing machine
Serial # 08143036Problem as subject line. I cannot start a programme because the door lock light is flashing.
I have tried pushing on the door, suspecting it could be the door sensor out of alignment etc, but no joy.
I have removed the sensor (METAFLEX ZV-44B) and cannot see anything obviously wrong with it. Plugged it back in, tried it, and still no joy.
Did a quick search on the forum and found some information saying that when these units go it can damage the main curcuit board too!
Does anyone have any suggestions that could help me order the correct replacement part?
Thanks,
Nick

first you need to find out if it has blown the board, plug out first of course, drawer out, 4 screws, panel off & visually check the board

Back again,
Bad news, blown circuit board!
I first noticed burn marks on the back of the program selector, then saw 2 burnt out tracks in the corresponding position on the main board.Any ideas how to proceed? Are the boards an economical repair, or it it time for a new machine?

Just make a careful note of the connections, some of the ones to the left looking down on the module will fit in different positions.

hi, please also check all the wiring to the motor, often rubbed/worn wires (especially by the lower concrete weight) in the loom to the motor will be the cause of the module blowing, or worn motor/brushes, the door lock light is just the outcome of a blown board, if you are unsure you can get it fixed by hotpoint for £99 including all parts and labour,

That answers my next question.
How sure can I be that it was the door module that blew the main board?
What if there is another fault that i cannot see and i blow 100 pounds of parts up in smoke as soon as i put them back in.It sounds like the Hotpoint engineer will be a good route to take at this time. Is the 99pound offer available through Hotpoint direct or is this an offer through a 3rd party?
Thanks for all the information guys!
Regards,
Nick.

If your machine is under 5 years old it will be £89.98 or if it is between 5 and 10 years old it will cost £99.98, parts all included only through Hotpoint.
