This has been a great machine – 8 years old, used a lot – and never a problem with it until now. Haven’t spent a penny other than purchase price.

However, it now seems to be leaking (very slightly), an oily/rusty brown liquid from what appears to be the very bottom of the machine. Still washes perfectly well, although today I made the mistake of leaving a white wash on “rinse hold” and it definitely came out a bit brown -something had leaked into the water.

Repair or replace? I feel we’ve had fantastic value from it and it’s time to buy another, but OH rightly points out there’s not enough money and we should get an engineer out to look at it.

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Becoming noisy, notably on spin?

It will be drum bearing failure but definitely worth getting it fixed. Do it sooner rather than later or there will be more damage to other parts of the machine.

Yes, on reflection it is noisier than it used to be when spinning. Thanks for both your comments – we will call an engineer out asap.
