    Hi 😉
I have another problem with this 👿 !!!!!! machine firstly the main heating element went o/c then the dryer element leaked to earth the whole house electrical system went down , now the dryer is again not working and just the dryer light is flashing it apperars as if the thermostat is O/C . I assume this thermostat should be closed s/c if I turn off the power to the machine? . What is the switching temperature of this thermostat? Hope this is a sensible question. Is this the problem?

It is not strictly speaking a thermostat but a TOC. A one shot thermal cut out, it will not reset.

Usually fails due to blocked condenser, loose or sticking fan, switching machine OFF when it is still hot etc.

    Hi Jim
Thanks for your reply .I replace the dryer element just over a month ago on this machine and cleaned out any loose material from the dryer box .
It worked ok until this TOC cut out .
Questions: Is it easy to locate and clean the condenser on this machine ,I assume its after the dryer box? Is the fan 220v I could check it out if I had its voltage rating.

The fan motors themselves don’t fail that often, its usually the plastic fan that comes loose on the shaft, drops down and fouls the casing. Later metal fans don’t suffer in the same way. Usually possible to refit and tighten the fan.

Condensor is as you say the chamber underneath the metal heater box.

yes, you will have seen it last time, the motor is at the back of the box, fan blade inside, you may see the scrape marks inside if it has slipped & is rubbing

    Hi
The problem was as suggested the fan was slipping on its bushing. I had difficulty tightening the nut to secure the fan .The locking device was not
secure in the plastic moulding and hence it was difficult to lock the nut!!.
Again thanks for the help 😛 .

hi, if it was slipping that much it will come loose again soon!, maybe you should order a new fan & fixing in readiness

This is really crazy but I have another problem with this darn machine. Its locked in a loop!!!
The On Off light is flashing. The Drying High Heat and Time Saver are also flashing. (thats 1 and 4 top to bottom of the lights). I checked the main heater elment it and all the components in the dryer box are ok .The pump seems to be on all the time. Is this a blockage or something more serious help!!!!!

sorry to say this, but 1&4 flashing is an eprom/setup error

that means the software on the main pcb is faulty

your probably going to need a new board, and a new eprom, unless hotpoint try to reprogramme the eprom thats in there

regardless of the way its done, it would certainly work out cheaper to pay the £99 hotpoint labour charge, and have the parts fitted under your 5 yr parts cover ( that is if its under five years old)

sorry, but thats the harsh reality of hotpoint machines!!

    good luck

    08709 066 066 is hotpoints number

In th last two months with this machine the main heater element went! a call out about 120 Euro
The service man also reduced a cable strain on the dryer element (bad design or assembly) and re-programmed the eprom.
Four weeks later the dryer element had a leak to earth tripped the mains I fixed that . It would have cost another 120 outside the 21 days
A few weeks ago the blade on the dryer fan came loose and resulted in the thermal cut out going open circuit I fixed that otherwise another 120 and now I need to replace the e-prom or the control board 120.
The machine is less than two years old are these faults normal?.
I cannot understand why a main board like this should fail there are many fail safe designs to contol glitches in electronic circuits which may effect eproms.
Thanks to the forum for all their help.
