    Hi,

Last job of the day was one of these beasts. Main oven door not closing fully. Managed to get the door off eventually. One of the hinges was stuck in the hinge socket and wouldn’t come out – I had to undo the hinge socket that fell apart as I undid it and the other wasn’t much better.

The springs in the hinges definately seem ok, they’ve not snapped and are still very strong. The oven is now obsolete but I’ve found these hinge socket sets on Masterpart (BL1414).

It looks relatively easy to fit, I presume, oven out, sides off or prised slighty to fit new sockets ??
Q1 Why the drill bit? I presume you have to make a larger hole for the nut and bolts to replace the screws that were ther originaly.
Q2 Will this fit? It’s described as “DOOR HINGE SOCKET, TOP OVEN” but it’s for the main oven but it looks like it will do the job.
Q3 Does it come with fitting instuctions? Althoug it looks easy enough.
Q4 How do you remove the top oven door? (main oven, was easy, remove inner glass, push the lever to the right and lock hinges and remove.

Really want this one to work, I’m the third person the cusomer called. The other 2 said it’s obsolete, parts not available but can I sell you a new oven?? Customer only been in the house 4 days and the oven is immaculate. Customer says he thinks it is the original oven in the property 20 years ago.

    Help and dvise much appreciated

    Hi Steve,

from memory I think there are a couple of holes in the hinges that you can use to insert a small screw driver or pop rivet pin to lock the hinge and remove from socket. Everything else is pretty straight forward.
Like you say the drill bit is to accomodate larger bolts.HTH.
