Hi
I have a Hotpoint FFA90 fridge freezer that is pooling water (which quickley freezes) at the bottom of the freezer.
I have defrosted the Freezer but the probelm persists (If i clean the ice away new ice forms overnight).
Can anyone sugget what the fault is and a course of action to remidy this?
As indicated I have througholy defrosted the freezer, and the problem is still present.
Thanks for your helpits all well and good defrosting the freezer, but theres a good chance the drain hole at the back is blocked
take all the baskets out, and unscrew the rear panel, take it off and youll see the evaporator, and a hole at the bottom.
thats the drain hole you need to clear

same problem as mine
and mine packed up last week just 4 years old
hope you got longer out of yours. i know someone else with the same problem – it seems to be a common problem😯

it can occour on any fridge or freezer with a drain hole, not a difficult fix, as helo has already mentioned you just need to clear the drain hole!!

really? well you must go to fix more of them than me then, cause a blocked drain hole is a long long way from being on its ‘last legs’!

Hi,
I’ve been having this same problem in recent weeks and I’ve just done as suggested removed the back panel inside the freezer.
Am I right in assuming the drain hole is the one at the bottom of the evaporator in what looks like a drip tray?
Mine looks about 3/4’s of a inch and is clogged with ice.Excuse the crap picture. I’ve started to defrost my freezer and thats the hole I clear right?

Right I defrosted the freezer for 36 odd hours and removed the drip tray at the back. There was some gunge in it but the rubber pipe that goes to the tray is a bit kinked. I’m wondering if the kink could have caused the blockage.
I’ve cleaned the pipe and tray and put it all back together. I’ve had a look in the parts section of the website for the pipe part number. Anyone have any ideas what the part number is?

looks like that’s it! they usually get blocked by bits of packaging/polystyrene/foil and all sorts of decomposing food-scraps and their associated “cultures”
Rightly or wrongly, I fill an old washing-up liquid bottle with warm water and squirt this on to defrost/clear it……..BUT it’s advisable to gain access to the back and clear out the surplus water and the “tray” where it normally drains to for evaporation……..there’s usually an evil swamp there as well.
Once they’re cleaned-out, they usually go another 10 years before clogging again 😆

Cheers, right I’ve had the freezer running again for two hours now and its seems to be sitting at 11 degress for quite a while beeping away to tell me its not at -18 yet.
How long should it take if I leave it alone to get to -18 again or does it sound like somethings up?

I’d guess that 3 to 6 hours would be reasonable……forgot to say in my last post:-

Right freezer has been running for 5 hours or so.
Still 11 degrees shown for freezer compartment.
Yet the ice cubes I put in the compartments are frozen.
The Fan is running and the fridge has started to cool.
I never had a temp issue until I defrosted it.
If I do the hold fast freeze open the door, close the door release fast freeze it shows the temps as 9 degrees for the fridge, -15 then -16.
Do I just carry on and ignore the readout thats wrong?

you don’t say if the compressor is cycling (cutting out, then cutting in when the temperature rises)
It will possibly cycle a bit more often,whilst all the materials of the liner, insulation and stuff get down to temp…..when it’s cut out (again, i’m assuming it’s a single compressor! )…i’d hope for a normal temp readout -guessing -18C for freezer and +4 C for fridge.
you could always stick a thermometer in there, unless you have a digital probe.
