Hi, I have a White Knight CL43 tumble dryer integrated into the built-in kitchen. Recently it has had more and more starting problems; i.e. hums, but not turns. I believe it is a reversing model.

Having removed the lid, belt was intact and tight. If I started to turn the drum in either direction, it would pick up speed and work ok.

Could this be the motor run capacitor? Otherwise what else could be suspect?

    With thanks,

    Tony

Yes – you need one of THESE.

On the side of the motor, so rear lower cover off, power as well.

it will either be the capacitor or a broken wire going to the capacitor,
    plug out before checking please.

    Hi all,

Thanks for all the advice. I’ve removed the capacitor and the internal disconnect seems to have operated, rendering it o/c. I’ll check this out with a component bridge later this week.

Assuming diagnosis is correct, I can get one FOC as a mate of mine works in a capacitor factory in town . . .

    Kind regards,

    Tony
