ParticipantHi wonder if anyone could help please.
Got a problem with the above dishwasher, now and again we would come down to the dishwasher after setting going the night before but in the morning it would still be full of water, we would open the door and close it again and off it went, the other day we heard a pump trying to kick in noise like you had just turn it on however the noise lasted about 2 secs and then nothing, we open the door and closed same noise for 2 secs and nothing again, tried the same and nothing happened but if you open and slammed shut it would be 2 secs again but now there is no noise or anything, the power light is on but no action. I’ve taken it apart tonight to check the pump is clear of crap and also ensured all exit pipes are clear etc….. they were fine
When full of water I can blow air down the outlet pipe which bubbles inside the washer so it appears not to be blocked, can anyone help out with what could be the problem or checks I could perform or what would be really good is how to do a reset, we’ve tried various resets from this forum but none appear to work for our dishwasher. When it went wrong the machine was left full of water which I drained away.

It’s an electromechanical timer controlled machine, so there is no reset procedure for this one. The prime suspect is the drain pump. At the age of this machine, the pump will be worn. THIS is worth a read.
When you had the pump apart, did it “ping” freely each quarter turn? Additionally, you should have checked for lateral play. If the impellor can be wiggled from side to side even slightly in the casing, it’s passed its best and likely to become erratic in operation.

Thanks for the reply.
The pump does turn freely and there is nothing blocking movement, however when I try to turn the pump it will turn one whole rotation before it pings in either direction but will ping each quarter turn from there no problems. The impellor does wiggle left to right in the casing slightly and if pulled away from the electro motor the impellor moves away and back about 5mm
Guessing it’s new pump time, not too bad really as the date stamp was 06/99 on the pump 🙂 -
