ParticipantWe have had a FFA71 for two-three years fine without problems however it has just developed a fault.
The fridge and freezer compartments appear to still be working although we have not measured the temperature, the freezer fan also appears to be running fine, switching on and off as normal. However the compressor is constantly running, and the freezer too-hot light is on.
If we switch the appliance off at the wall for a while then switch back on, the compressor and the too-hot light do stay off for a while once the power is restored.
Adjusting the freezer or fridge temperature controls does not appear to make much difference.Reading some of the posts here on similar models, I am guessing it may possibly be the thermistors to blame. Does anybody know where they are fitted on this particular model and how to test them ?

Firstly this appliance has embedded thermistors, ie they are not replaceable. However, before condemning it check the following – take of the base covers off (power off please) and vacuum out the dust and then fully defrost the unit with the doors open for at least 48 hours. After this restart the machine and see what happens. If you still have a problem I would suggest either it is short of refrigerant or you have a failing compressor.

Hi
We have now used up all the food and switched the appliance off for 3 days checked for dust etc. and switched it back on, now the compressor runs but the neither the fridge or freezer get cold. A bulge has also appeared on the inside of the back of the fridge.

Hi alexlb24,
your fridge freezer has developed an internal leak in the pipe work in the fridge section, not good news as the pipework is foamed in and not repaiable.
new fridge freezer required.Bob.

Now since your appliance is covered by a 5 year parts guarantee by Hoptpoint, I would be trying to negotiate a replacement at a much reduced price 😆
