Hi all, I hope someone can shed some light on a problem I have with my Whirlpool AFB125H freezer. I have had it for approx 4 years. I have searched and read on the forum for similar problems, and I think it might be either a re-gassing or compressor issue, but I’m not sure which.

About 2 weeks ago I noticed that the ice in the icetray place in the top shelf/compartment would only partially form, and items in this top compartment would not freeze properly. However, the middle and bottom drawers froze food well.

2 days ago the freezer stopped working altogether and little pool of water was visible at the front under the door. The little green LED on the front panel was still lit. I mopped up, pulled the freezer out from under the kitchen worktop and tipped it at and angle to drain the last of the water from within. When the last drops had dribbled out the freezer started up again! I cleaned up slid it under the worktop and it has been working since except it still has the temperature difference between the top and the bottom. Ice cubes still do not fully form in the top compartment. So I’m guessing that it’ll prolly stop working again some time soon.

I hope there is enough detail here for someone to go “Aha!”.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Yeah. Obviously 2.5 weeks was an unreasonably short amount of time to wait before losing patience.

The milk of human kindness has definitely gone sour …
